Functional Medicine Appointments and Services
‘I had been suffering with psoriasis for over 10 years…
…and had started reacting to pretty much anything I ate, I would be severely bloated, have stomach pain and generally feel unwell. I felt very down. I was always in pain and my love for food had disappeared as my relationship with it turned very negative.
I am now a completely different person: my skin is better, I lost unwanted body fat and my gut is now working as it should… I can eat what I want without having reactions and feel generally better in myself…it was the best thing I ever did for my health.’
Heemali, 30.

How long are functional medicine appointments?
First Appointment: your first appointment of your new patient work up is scheduled for 120 minutes, however, more or less time may be taken to complete it. This is the most important part of the process and as much time as necessary will be taken to get a full understand of your situation and to generate an effective recovery plan.
Second and subsequent review appointments: 60 minutes.
Check in calls: 30 minutes.
Can you order lab tests?
Yes. I use several reputable lab groups which offer global services to arrange any necessary lab testing. This usually involves home test kits which can be easily completed at home and returned to the lab for analysis. Some tests require phlebotomy which can also be arranged.
How do I pay for lab tests? Are they included?
Should lab testing be necessary, I will recommend which are most appropriate for you, arrange the order with the lab and interpret the results as part of your service fees as detailed above. The cost of the test itself is separate and paid directly to the lab.
How are appointments conducted? Do you see clients in person?
All appointments are conducted through online video calls. At this time I am not seeing Functional Medicine clients in person and have experienced no limitation in providing online consultations which are primarily discussion-based. The link for each call can be found in the confirmation email of your appointment.
Can you order and interpret an OAT test?
Yes. I have specialist training in OAT testing and regularly order the test for my clients.
How long does it take to see results with functional medicine?
The speed of improvement is very individual as it is influenced by many factors such as age, and the chronicity and complexity of health problems. The most important thing initially is to get your health moving in the right direction. Most individuals experience immediate changes after implementing initial recommendations and continue with steady improvements. Individuals with complex chronic issues often experience significant improvement and have much more control over their health by 6 months. From here less intensive work is sometimes needed to maintain progression with appointments at a reduced frequency every 2-3 months.
What does functional medicine involve?
This is very individual to you and your needs and is influenced by the findings in the workup process. Strategies to improve health often revolve around:
- Optimising nutritional intake and identifying food sensitivities
- Rebalancing the microbiome
- Addressing chronic infections
- Supporting detoxification and identifying sources of environmental toxins
- Dietary supplements to achieve specific interventions
- Mental/emotional factors such as stress management, trauma and other factors affecting mental well-being.
- Supporting digestion and absorption
